*This project is a one-week-long school project. Each week we will come up with a design problem based on the topic we get from the professor. Then we will create a Pattern that solves the problem. Based on the Pattern we create we will design and create a game.

In this project, the player is going to play as a delivery man delivering food to an elderly.

An Embedded or Environmental Narrative Pattern:

In this project, we created a story of care and love. In this demo, the player is going to play as a delivery man delivering food to an elderly. In the beginning, the elder refuses to take the order because she did not order the food. After several days of delivery, she started to accept the food. Time goes by, until one day the player realizes the elder does not take the order, and later when the player is delivering an order nearby finds out there are ambulances outside of the elder’s house to realize the elder passed away. For this project, we want to use a minimum amount of words to make players feel more. Instead of letting us tell the story, we want to let players feel and find out the story themselves. In this game, there are no fancy controls or cool CGIs but there is a story that lets players feel themselves.

Design Problem:

To state the background settings and stories of the game, some developers use paragraphs to explain the details. However, long articles make players bored before they dive into the gameplay. It is hard for players to immerse themselves in the game world and get into the role. Telling the story using the conversation between NPCs and the character can effectively solve the problem.

How your pattern applied to the design problem:

In this game, we are trying to use the minimum amount of words to create a complete story. We also want players to feel the story themselves, so they can have a better experience/connection. In this game, the conversation between the elder and the delivery man(player) allows players to get into the role.
